Kitchen gadgets and dishes are my weakness. As a local real estate agent, the hypocrisy of my own kitchen is finally catching up to me. Many of us spend significant time in our kitchens. Whether I am in a Pasadena traditional or a Shadow Hills ranch, the kitchen is the heart of the home. Perhaps you feel the same about your space in Lake View Terrace. Recently, I realized I am a total hypocrite while talking about kitchen gadgets with my clients.
My days are spent advising 65+ homeowners as they prepare to move. Often, I will look at a kitchen in La Crescenta or Sunland with a critical eye. I might ask if they really need every single coffee cup or plastic bowl. Then, I go home and see my own collection! I have a crazy obsession with bowls. My ginormous stove is more trouble to clean than it is worth. My cupboards are overflowing with “someday” kitchen gadgets. To save my daughter from a future mess, I am finally taking my own advice. I am cleaning things out. Of course, empty shelf space just makes me want something new!
Swapping Old Tools for New 2026 Favorites
Keeping up with kitchen trends is a lot to take in. You might read that black plastic spatulas are bad for your health. Then, everyone says you must use bamboo lids and glass jars. It makes you want to toss everything and start over. I decided to dig into the Forbes Vetted best products of 2026. Since I just cleared some space, I wanted to see what the experts like. Whether you cook or just like cool kitchen gadgets, these standouts caught my eye:
- Breville Joule Oven Air Fryer Pro: This thing does everything but the dishes. Check it out here.
- The Beast Blender: Sleek, glass, and perfect for a quick smoothie before home showings. See it here.
- Meater 2 Plus Thermometer: This smart tool ensures you never ruin a roast. Take a look here.

Getting Your Kitchen Ready for a Fresh Start
Refreshing your “junk drawer” is a fun place to start. I am not saying you need every item on this list. I simply thought the Forbes list of 150 top products was worth sharing. You can find the full list right here if you are curious.
Do not let my bowl obsession fool you. When it is time to sell your home, I know exactly what needs to stay and what needs to go. I work with homeowners every day to simplify, organize, and prepare their kitchens so buyers can walk in and feel the space, not the stuff.
And yes, sometimes that conversation starts with me admitting I have the same habits sitting in my own cupboards. There is something about calling it out honestly that makes the process a whole lot easier for everyone.
If your kitchen is starting to feel a little too full, or you are thinking about making a move, we can start with a simple conversation and take it one drawer at a time.
Robbyn Battles, The House Agent, known for her straightforward approach and real conversations, brings a level of honesty to the process that helps homeowners make clear, confident decisions, even when that means calling out a little hypocrisy along the way. As a listing specialist serving La Crescenta, Glendale, Pasadena, Sunland, and surrounding communities, her focus is always on helping you prepare, position, and move forward with clarity.
